The TradePending mascot is the wobbly bird, with its scientific name being the drinking bird or “bibens avem” for its Latin name. The top question we get about the bird is “Why?”. Let’s discuss how this bird became not just a mascot, but a symbol of how we do things.
The origin of the Wobbly Bird begins in TradePending’s first full year of business, back in 2015. The team, being small and scrappy at the time, knew they needed to automate as many internal processes as possible in order to keep up with the company’s growth.

Homer figured out how to automate his job by hitting the Y button on his computer, but after letting the bird go unattended he inadvertently triggers a nuclear meltdown.
If you haven’t noticed, TradePending has a bit of a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. Obviously we won’t or can’t automate everything, especially the things that can lead to meltdown. However this drive for efficiency still seeps throughout the company, from contracting to onboarding to diagnosing site issues before anyone else notices.
